New Recording Project Funding Appeal

ABOUT 'THE WATER IN BETWEEN' (working title) Late last summer Gene Gouthro, owner/engineer of Athlone Studios invited me to record my new project in his lovely 'log home' studio nestled in the hills of Everett Ontario. Well let me tell you - I jumped at the opportunity! I reassembled members of the original FLY BY NIGHT ORCHESTRA and invited new members to join in. Over the snowy winter months we laid the bed tracks for thirteen of my songs and I'm thrilled to report, as of mid June, a few final touches will see the recording portion of the project complete!! YAY. I am thrilled to be recording once again with award winning multi instrumentalist Emory Lester on mandolin and banjo. Each musical contribution is an absolute gem! Electric bassist Garret Doyle discovered an inner jazz musician - which surprised the heck out of him! Diagnosed with colon and lymphatic cancers one month into the project he passed the musical torch to good friend acoustic upright bassist Denis Rondeau who's playing is suberb to say the least. Other new members include guitar master Dave Clarke all the way from Victoria B.C. Cellist Alyssa Wright, flutist Allison Lupton, percussionist Charlie Cooley and my sister in song from 'The Pomelos' the lovely Tannis Slimmon featured on harmony vocals. A number of original FBNO members are returning for repeat performances including Jack Walker on Dobro, Robert Reid on jazz guitar and Mike Stevens on harmonica. The CD release concert is scheduled for November 15th at the Orangeville Opera House Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted on how many of these amazing musicians will be joining us for the show! I'll be making my way to North Carolina this July to work with award winning engineer, Mix Mama Karen Kane, where she will be mixing this magnificent pot of stew. Can't wait! The project then moves to Bill Wolf for mastering and finally off for manufacturing by September. 'The Water In Between' (working title) will be released in time for the OCFF Conference this October. Creating magic in the studio is only one part of the process. These projects are extremely time consuming and expensive to produce. I'm seeking immediate financial assistance to ensure this project is completed as I've envisioned it to be. I'm halfway to achieving my original goal to raise $10,000, approximately half of the budget required. I still need approximately $5000 to complete the 'post production' including mixing, mastering & manufacturing.
